Cats apparently exploit humans by purring. As a crazy cat-lady in training, this is nothing new to me.

Of course they purr to get our attention, what do you expect. There cats. They own us, we don't own them. ^^

Unlike regular purring, this sound incorporates a "cry", with a similar frequency to a human baby's.

The interesting part being I'm an absolute slave to my cat when she makes that noise (right in my ear, while KNEADING me), but I cannot STAND human babies and the sounds that they make.

I'm just surprised it took them so long to link the two. They've known for years the cries of kitten and the cries of a human baby are nigh-indistinguishable (sp?)

(And I'll match your black cat with my sweet, late Loki :) )
